About Us

The Foundation of Leprosy Patients' Friends is a non-profit charitable organization, registered under number 11322 for the year 2021 at the Ministry of Social Solidarity. We are a bridge of hope and care for leprosy patients and their families throughout the Arab Republic of Egypt, working tirelessly to provide them with a dignified and safe life and reintegrate them into society as active and productive members.

Our Mission

We strive to provide comprehensive health and social care for leprosy patients and help them integrate into society and achieve a dignified life. We work to improve the quality of life for leprosy patients and their families in the geographical areas where they are located, through providing integrated development programs in the fields of health, social and educational solidarity, economic empowerment, and human development. We believe that every human being deserves a chance to live with dignity and respect, regardless of their health condition.

Our Vision

We aspire to a society free from stigma and discrimination against leprosy patients, where everyone has equal opportunities to live with dignity. We dream of an Egypt where every leprosy patient is able to live their normal life without fear or isolation, and a conscious society that accepts others and respects human dignity in all circumstances.

Our Story
The Foundation of Leprosy Patients' Friends was established to be a bridge of hope and care for leprosy patients and their families. The Foundation began with individual efforts from a group of dedicated volunteers since 2014, with the aim of supporting leprosy patients and their families and breaking the barrier of silence and stigma surrounding this disease.
​

The beginning was modest in providing food, clothing, and financial support services for patients who were abandoned by society. Over time and with increasing awareness of the extent of suffering faced by these patients, services evolved to include multiple areas such as treatment sponsorship, medication provision, prosthetic limbs, psychological support, and other necessary humanitarian assistance.

Since its establishment, the Foundation has provided thousands of health and social services to beneficiaries throughout Egypt. We are proud that we have been able to reach hundreds of families and provide them with helping hands in the most difficult circumstances. We did not limit ourselves to providing material assistance, but worked on building comprehensive and sustainable development programs targeting patients and their families, enabling them to build a better and more stable future.

Today, the Foundation of Leprosy Patients' Friends has become a leading charitable institution in Egypt, managing multiple programs including food services, social solidarity, healthcare, housing, and education support. We receive zakat funds, charity, and donations and distribute them with complete transparency to those who deserve them.

Our Objectives
We work to achieve a set of strategic objectives that include:

Supporting Health Services: Providing treatment, medications, and prosthetic limbs for leprosy patients and their families

Economic Empowerment: Enabling individuals and communities to possess the ability to meet their basic living needs

Spreading Acceptance Culture: Promoting a culture of respect for human dignity and acceptance of others, preparing society for this goal

Social Solidarity: Enhancing social and material solidarity among community members

Community Awareness: Raising awareness about leprosy disease, prevention methods, and breaking the barrier of fear and stigma
